Ocean Booking Guide
1. Accept Shipper Inquiry
Ocean quote: Know rates from origin port to major destinations worldwide and carrier schedules; confirm commodity name and DG class when needed.
Inland quote: Know trucking rates, CY stuffing, customs, and inspection fees for key cities. If unable to quote immediately, collect contact details and follow up promptly.
2. Accept Booking
Confirm sailing schedule, piece count, container type/qty, gross weight, volume, payment terms, contact info, and stuffing method (door-to-door / CFS stuffing).
Common container types: 20GP / 40GP / 40HC / 45GP (volume and weight limits per carrier and port regulations).
3. Booking Confirmation
Prepare the booking note (10-part form) with accurate data; stamp and attach supporting documents; extract vessel, voyage, and B/L number from the booking confirmation.
4. Stuffing & Customs
Schedule trucking for door-to-door or CFS stuffing; obtain the container load plan (CLP). Ensure complete customs documents and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Air Booking Guide
Shipper provides commodity, piece count, weight, dimensions, destination, and shipper/consignee details, plus packing list, contract, invoice, and other customs documents. Rates are typically quoted by weight break (M / N / +45 / +100, etc.).
Forwarder completes booking confirmation, inspection assistance, space booking, cargo receipt into warehouse, and settlement (prepaid / collect). Chargeable weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (L × W × H cm ÷ 6000).
